The Norman City Council elections finally have been completed after the Ward 7 runoff election was decided by 21 votes Tuesday. Linda Lockett received 127 votes, or 54.51 percent, in the runoff election for the ward seat, while opponent Stephen Tyler Holman received 106, according to the Cleveland County Election Board website’s unofficial results. READ MORE

The registration deadline for Howdy Week’s Involvement Fair has been extended until the end of the summer, and student organizations have responded by increasing their participation in the event. The deadline was extended indefinitely because the original Friday deadline coincided with student preparation for final exams, said Joe Sangirardi, fair coordinator and letters sophomore.  READ MORE

OU’s weekend taxicab program received $55,000 of support funds from the university after the program’s yearly balance was in the red by the end of March. The SafeRide program’s expenses were $5,019.92 in the hole after officials paid $5,220 in monthly service fees to Airport Express on March 24, one of the program’s contracted services. READ MORE

With two weeks remaining until the May 10 Norman City Council Ward 7 runoff election, both candidates are campaigning to improve turnout after the end of the voter-registration period.
