Two former Congressmen to discuss U.S. politics during visit to OU

Two former U.S. Congressmen will speak about American politics and Congress on Feb. 21.

Former Reps. David Minge, D-Minn., and Nick Smith, R-Mich., will discuss their experiences in Congress and give insight into the current state of American politics, according to the press release. The event will be at 7 p.m. in the Excellence in Journalism Auditorium in Gaylord Hall.

Both men will take questions from the audience after speaking, according to a press release. The event is sponsored by the Association of Former Members of Congress, the Political Science Club, the Department of Political Science, the Carl Albert Congressional Research and Studies Center, and the Speaker’s Bureau.

Minge represented Minnesota for four terms from 1993 to 2001, according to his biography. After not getting re-elected, Minge was appointed to the Minnesota Court of Appeals, where he currently works.

Smith served five terms in the House from 1993 to 2005, according to his biography. Before that, he served in the Michigan House and Senate.
