Climate sustainability a top concern for Thursday lecturer

A college dean will give a lecture about climate change at 6 tonight in the Robert Kerr Auditorium in the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History.

Berrien Moore, dean of the College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences, will lecture about “What we know, what we think we know and what we don’t know about climate change” as part of an OU Presidential Dream Course.

The lecture will cover the effects of burning fossil fuels, how the climate has changed over time and what challenges society encounters in altering its carbon-based energy system, Moore said.

“This topic will be a central topic in the lives of our students and their children for decades to come,” Moore said.

A question-and-answer session will follow the lecture, according to a press release.

The next lecture in this series is Tuesday Feb. 28 at the museum. The guest speaker is Jorgen Randers, professor of climate strategy at the Norwegian School of Management.
