With Independence Day near, the City of Norman is reminding citizens that shooting off fireworks in the city is illegal.
Only those with a special permit, restricted for pyrotechnic officials only, issued by the Norman Fire Department are allowed to launch fireworks in Norman, according to a press release.

The Norman Fire Department suggests people attend the professional fireworks display Monday at Reeves Park, instead of using consumer fireworks.
