I love my mom because shes the greatest! And you know what? I didnt realize it until this past February, which is a shame.
Everyone I knew would always tell me, Youre lucky. You have a great mom, but I never realized they were right until it dawned on me. The situation in which my enlightenment occurred is odd, but just stay with me on this one.
I came to this revelation while doing an experiment for my psychology class. It was one of those large, general experiments where about 200 people fill out surveys in Dale Hall. After filling out surveys for an hour and a half, I was finally down to my last survey. The survey was personal in nature and we didnt have to answer any of the questions if we didnt want to. But I went ahead and filled it out.
The questions were about being abused and/or mistreated and about our self-esteem as far as stemming from our parents, like: did you ever feel like you werent good enough or were you ever told you werent loved as a child and other questions like that.
As I went through the survey, I had marked all the questions no (except for the one about spankings--all of mine which I rightfully earned). That is when I realized I had had a wonderful childhood and a wonderful mother.
Right after I finished my surveys, I raced to the phone to call my mom to tell her how super cool I thought she was and how I just realized how great she is and has always been.
So for CAC Moms Day, my mom and I plan to try to do as much as we can on the schedule (especially tea at 3 p.m.). And, if youre not doing anything with your mom and shes as lovely as mine, shame on you.
