Business college names interim dean
by   |  June 24, 1999  |

The director of the Division of Marketing in the OU College of Business has been named the college's interim dean.
Rodney Evans, who also teaches business and marketing strategy and entrepreneurship in the college, will assume the position on Aug. 1.
"Professor Evans is ideally suited to serve as interim dean of the College of Business," said OU President David Boren in a statement.
The current dean of the college, Richard Cosier, is resigning to become dean of the Krinnert School of Management at Purdue University. His last day at OU will be July 31.
Evans said he was excited about the new position.
"It's a great honor," he said.
Gary Emery, finance professor, said Evans' experience -- he has been a part the OU College of Business faculty for 29 years -- will be an asset.
"He has experience and knows what this college is about," Emery said.
Evans said it is still early to think about what he wants to do during his time in the position, but he said Cosier had done a great job.
"The outgoing dean has left us a good platform," he said. "I have a little learning to do."
All of the current faculty will remain for the fall semester, so "no one views it as a sinking ship," he said.
Evans said he did not know how long he would be in the position, but that the selection process for a new dean typically takes about a year.
"I intend to appoint him as a member of the search committee for the next permanent dean," Boren said in a statement
